Twitter’s Biz Stone joins the revamped AOL

by admin

Only a few weeks ago AOL made headlines by purchasing US blog The Huffington Post for $315. At the time, the site’s founder, Arriana Huffington described it as “a merger of visions” that was like like stepping off a fast-moving train and onto a supersonic jet. The purchase was undoubtedly exciting, as it showed the true value of professional, high quality online content.

However, AOL haven’t stopped there. In a clear statement of intent, they have also got Twitter’s Biz Stone to come on board as AOL/HuffPost’s ‘strategic advisor for social impact’. No, VN doesn’t quite know what that means either, but it does show that AOL once again worthy of our attention. If nothing else, having names like Stone and Huffington associated with them gives AOL some much needed street cred, and knowledge of the latest tech trend. At best it could mean that they are once again step up and produce high quality, engaging news content.

Definitely worth watching out for in the months ahead.

Mark Zuckerberg makes comic appearence

Not only does a representation of him star in a film that is up for seven Academy Awards this weekend, but Mark Zuckerberg now has a comic book based on him. According to Mashable it has been produced by Canadian firm Bluewater Productions, is 48 pages in length, and is out today.

The Winklevoss twins, who are continuing their legal battle with Zuckerburg over who had the idea for Facebook, appeared recently on Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN, and described the portrayal of Zuckerberg in ‘The Social Network‘ as “Extremely generous”. VN doesn’t know if the legal wranglings are included in the comic book, but here is what the twins had to say about their futre to Piers Morgan:

It is interesting how Zuckerberg has become such a cult figure. Maybe it’s his youth, maybe it is the fact the product he produced is so much a part of our daily lives. For someone supposedly so shy, he doesn’t seem to deter people projecting their own version of him out into the public domain. Whatever the reasons, few entrepreneurs capture the same level of media hype and  cult following Zuckerberg does, and this comic is just the latest instalment of the show.
